- ATO
The Australian Taxation Office (ATO) is the principal revenue collection agency for
the Australian Government, collecting approximately 92% of revenue at the Federal Government level. It is
responsible for administering income tax, pay as you go withholding and instalments (PAYGW and PAYGI), the
Australian Business Number (ABN) and Australian Business Register (ABR), goods and services tax (GST), fringe
benefits tax (FBT) and much more.
- ASIC
The Australian Securities & Investment Commission (ASIC) is an independent
Australian Government body that acts as Australia’s corporate regulator. ASIC’s role is to enforce and
regulate company and financial services laws to protect Australian consumers, investors and creditors.
- DOCEP
The Department of Consumer and Employment Protection (DOCEP) works with the
community to ensure high standards of safety and protection for workers and consumers. It is a department
within the Western Australian Government.
- ASX
The Australian Securities Exchange (ASX) is the primary stock exchange in Australia.
ASX began as separate state-based exchanges established as early as 1861. Today trading is all-electronic and
the exchange is a public company, listed on the exchange itself. The Australian Securities Exchange, as it is now
known, resulted from the merger of the Australian Stock Exchange and the Sydney Futures Exchange in December 2006.
- MYOB
Mind Your Own Business (MYOB) provides software services to small and medium business,
and is particularly well known in Australia and New Zealand. Their products and services range from entry level
accounting software through to multi user enterprise software (MYOB Exonet and MYOB PayrollEnterprise). Other products
include retails point of sale software, asset management, payroll, payment services, practice and tax software and
E-commerce solutions.
- QUICKEN
Quicken is a personal finance management tool, with a vast array of features. There are
several versions of Quicken including, but not limited to: Quicken New User, Quicken Basic, Quicken Deluxe, Quicken
Premier and Quicken Home & Business. Each version of Quicken also tends to have the release year in the product name,
(e.g. Quicken Basic 2008).
